Based in the centre of the historic county town of Lewes, East Sussex - the local area has a vibrant creative scene and many great food producers in the surrounding countryside. Project: Our Table - Matt at Hot Wood Pizza

Continuing from my first personal restaurant photography project shoot for Our Table with Dean Parker at Darby’s - this shoot is further afield than the usual reaches of the project, but keeps to the essence of it; capturing places that I’ve loved eating at, and for the passion that goes into the process.

Just as I was finishing up the brief for my ‘Our Table’ project at the end of May, I booked a last-min staycation to the East Coast town of Westgate-on-Sea for a bit of seaside R&R with my partner. We found a really lovely Airbnb called Hot Wood House that was both right next to the sea, and also had an unbelievable attention to detail put into the interior design.

Project: Food Stylist Test Shoot with Evie Harbury

I originally met Evie a couple of years ago when capturing a food photography commission with Sam of Ki Kefir, and creatively hitting it off about our love for all things food. Evie works as a talented chef, food stylist, recipe developer and home economist - spanning film and stills for advertising and publications.

As a food photographer, and Evie a food stylist, we really enjoyed our first experience working together so decided to meet up a couple of times a year (schedules permitting) to try out new ideas and test some creative food photography concepts that we don’t always get to explore when on the job.

Case Study: The Tiffin Tin

Founded in 2005 in Hornsey North London, The Tiffin Tin are an popular Indian takeaway restaurant with six kitchens across the North and East of the city, as well as offering catering for events.

They are known for their authentic flavours, they bring home-cooked flavours from their home of Sri Lanka and India to their menu. They offer a wide selection of classics and traditional dishes - cooked on charcoals with Naan breads freshly made in the Tandoor to elevate their flavours.

Launched in 2016, Kokodoo is a family-owned business, founded by Mary Yoon - using her 20 years of experience in East Asian cuisine, and knowledge as a Le Cordon Bleu chef.

Starting out as a food truck that would travel around London, they built a strong reputation and became registered to trade at key World Heritage Site at the Tower of London, and Hampton Court Palace, before expanding into corporate contracts for Goldman Sachs, UBS and Amazon HQ in London.

Din Tai Fung are a well-known restaurant group - originating from Taiwan, and over the past 60-years, have opened flagship locations in over 10 other countries.

At the heart of their menu, are their world-famous Xiao Long Bao - which are made all-day in their iconic glass-fronted open kitchens. Each Bao features a minimum of 18 exquisite folds and are filled with juicy minced pork, before being cooked and presented in bamboo steamer baskets.

Case Study: Berkeley Catering - Menu Food Photography

Berkeley Catering are one of London’s leading corporate and events caterers with over 20 years’ experience. As a returning client, and after our previous sessions together, they briefed me to photograph 40 canapé items during a one-day booking.

The goal was to refresh their menu food photography for new items on their canapé menu - for use on their website, online ordering platform and marketing, showing off the variety and quality of their canapés in a clean, consistent style.

Korean Crunch Hackney is a brand under the Orbit Ltd brand, owned and operated by 3 co-founders. With their new menus completed, they reached out to me with the brief of capturing menu food photography of their Korean menu.

Their menu offers classic dishes like Bimibap, Danburi, Mandu (dumplings), and sides - including Korean BBQ wings, kimchi, and Panko Prawns, as well as dips.
