Case Study: Al Desco - Menu Food Photography

Brief.

Al Desco Foods, sister brand to Berkeley Catering, hired me off the back of a successful four-day session we had previously completed for Berkeley.

This time, they briefed me to create a completely refreshed library of menu food photography for their online ordering platform. Al Desco Foods.

The brief included 100 menu items, hero banner images, and a request for more lifestyle food photography.

The aim was to build a large, versatile collection of food photography that reflected the variety of their menu, looked clean and appetising for business catering customers, and worked across their website, ordering system and marketing.

Ahead of the shoot, I provided Al Desco with my menu food photography client guidelines, helping them prepare dishes and select props so we could move efficiently through such a large number of items.

Working with their Executive Chef, and team - each dish was styled with care, highlighting textures, fresh ingredients, and vibrant colour combinations to ensure they looked great in close-ups and at thumbnail size.

Three seperate hero banners were styled and captured, in addition to lifestyle food photography; with hands reaching to create a sense of interaction and freshness.

I lit the scenes with my directional studio lighting to bring out natural colour and texture while keeping everything bright, consistent, and on-brand.

By the end of the two-day shoot, Al Desco had a cohesive menu food photography library to elevate their online presence and give them engaging visuals for both website and marketing campaigns.
