Case Study: Strand Palace Hotel

Brief.

Established in 1909, The Strand Palace Hotel is set right in the heart of London’s famous West End and Covent Garden.

The hotel has over 700 rooms, holds a high occupancy rate, and contains various places within the space for guests to eat, drink and unwind.

Inspired by the heritage of Benjamin Pollock's Victorian Toyshop, the hotel had started offering a playful afternoon tea, for children and adults alike.

Wanting restaurant photography that would showcase the afternoon tea, and the space that it is set within - I was approached via a word-of-mouth recommendation.

Approach.

Working with their Marketing Director, I was briefed in with the hotel’s brand guidelines, the canvas sizes for each use, and a shot list - which guided creative decision-making, and equipment selection to bring.

Shooting from this, I captured restaurant photography on-location at the tea rooms over a 1/2 day booking - mixing in large soft studio lighting to the ambient room lighting, to complement the space, whilst giving contouring contrast to the food.

Already in use on their UK website, and digital touchpoints - it’s been great to see the content go live and I’m looking forward to teaming up with them again.
