Case Study: Spot The Wing

Brief.
Spot The Wing are a newly opened fast food restaurant in Harlesden, North West London. They specialise in Buffalo-style wings, with a wide offering of menu items, and a range of seven sauces to select for every wing or chicken base, with a selections of sides and desserts also being available.
They reached out to me when looking for a food photographer to capture menu food photography of their core sellers on their menu, including wings, fried chicken, and sides.
The food photography was for use on their Deliveroo, JustEat, and Uber Eats profiles.
Approach.
After a quick call with the team, I suggested that we use the context of their newly fitted dining-in area for the backdrop of their menu items, in addition to a clean blue background for smaller items.
During our 1/2 day food photography session, I set up my equipment on arrival, then ran through the menu items and categories with the team. I also caught up with the head chef, and made sure that we were only being provided one item at a time. I provided some smaller styling suggestions to make each menu item look the best it could in our food photography session.
As their core menu items were burgers, I captured these from a hero angle, to add scale to them whilst also showing all of the ingredients. Using the context of the booth seating behind the burgers, added a unique feeling to the food photography, making them stand out from their competitors.
It’s great to see their edited menu food photography on all of their online ordering platforms - showing the best of what they have to offer to new and repeat customers.
