Case Study: Matchamisu

Brief.

Matchamisu Covent Garden is one of several delivery-led brands operated from the Buns & Buns Collective, owned by REEF Technology.

As a repeat client, they reached out wanting me to covering three brands photographed in a single day, with each menu designed specifically for Deliveroo and other ordering platforms.

The requirement was precision rather than volume. Each brand needed a clear, platform-ready food photography set that read instantly at thumbnail size, maintained separation from the other concepts, and could be deployed immediately across delivery apps.

With short menus and fast decision cycles, the outcome was to produce platform food photography that improves menu legibility, supports confident ordering, and holds together as a repeatable system across multiple brands.

Approach.

I structured the shoot as a controlled, multi-brand food photography session, with each brand treated as its own contained system despite sharing a single production day.

Lighting, framing, and visual structure were held consistently throughout the session, while composition and emphasis were adjusted between brands to ensure clear visual distinction. Each menu was photographed sequentially, allowing focus to remain on one brand at a time and avoiding crossover or dilution.

Because the menus were tight, pacing was deliberate. Dishes were brought to camera at measured intervals to maintain food quality and consistency, with a dedicated hero banner image produced for each brand to anchor their presence on delivery platforms.

The resulting food photography functions as clean, platform-optimised image libraries, ready for immediate deployment. Each brand received a coherent visual system that supports fast decision-making on delivery apps and can be extended easily as menus evolve.
