Case Study: The Seashell of Lisson Grove

Brief.

The Seashell of Lisson Grove is a well-known London fish & chip restaurant and takeaway, popular for its generous portions, fresh ingredients, and long-standing reputation in Marylebone.

It’s also a sought-after venue for private dining and events - having hosted everything from local celebrations to celebrity parties, including one for Demi Moore and Lady Gaga.

As a new client, they brought me in as their food photographer to create a suite of high-quality food photography assets for Deliveroo and other online ordering platforms.

The goal was to present their signature dishes with clarity and impact, while staying true to their classic British identity.

Approach.

We started with an intro call where I pitched a half-day food photography shoot that covered around 20 dishes, plus a hero banner featuring their most iconic fish & chip combo.

With years of experience working with a food photographer restaurants of all sizes, I focused on capturing the golden textures, portion size, and comfort factor that define The Seashell’s food.

We shot on-site during quiet hours, using soft yet directional studio lighting to enhance the batter's crispness, the chips' warmth, and the plating's freshness. Styling stayed traditional and with small tweaks fed back to the team to get the most of out of each dish.

The final gallery delivered a clean, consistent visual identity for their online platforms, helping them stand out to both new customers and loyal regulars browsing delivery apps.
