Case Study: Cafe Nana Covent Garden

Brief.

NaNa Café is a vibrant Mediterranean restaurant and bar in the heart of Covent Garden, known for mezze sharing plates, and seasonal cocktails.

As part of their rebrand, they asked me to create a new library of food photography with a particular focus on their drinks and food pairings.

The images were for use on their website, social media, digital marketing and in-restaurant materials, helping them relaunch with a cohesive visual identity that reflects the warmth, colour and energy of their menu.

The brief called for a mix of individual dish shots, drinks photography, and styled pairing images that could sit together as a complete brand story.

Approach.

I put together a creative session plan to best use our time and ensure we captured a strong mix of food, drinks, and pairing shots.

During the shoot, we worked through NaNa’s hero menu items and signature drinks, working with the kitchen team to style and get the most out of each dish.

Based ourdoors, and in a public setting, I balanced lots of naturual light with my studio lighting to create a summery, yet controllable setting - giving the content create contrast and form, letting the vibrant Mediterranean food & drink shine.

To add life and energy, I included lifestyle moments of hands holding drinks, items being dipping - to reflect the sociable dining experience NaNa Café is known for.

The result was a wide bank of food photography to showcase essence of NaNa’s rebrand, giving them assets ready to use across website banners, social media, table talkers and press features.
