Case Study: Joe & Seph's - Caramel Packaging

 

Brief.

Joe & Seph’s, known for their gourmet popcorn and indulgent sauces, reached out to me for a one-day commercial food photography shoot to create high-impact visuals for two of their bestselling caramel sauces: Salted Caramel and Chocolate Caramel.

The aim was to enhance shelf recognition and boost standout appeal across online and retail environments.

Each product required a carefully styled image that brought the key ingredients to life, while leaving space for the final label design to sit clearly over the image. The shoot was focused on delivering packaging-ready food photography that supported both brand identity and strong product visibility on the store shelves.

 

Approach.

I worked as both food photographer and food stylist on this shoot, styling each scene using scamp mock-ups of the packaging as a guide. Every ingredient had to be positioned with precision to sit around the logo, flavour name, and on-pack text, balancing visual richness with clean, functional composition and legabilty.

A marble background was used to be neutral and to align to their brand identity, with the flavour and tone of each product, soft, golden neutrals for Salted Caramel, and deeper, chocolatey hues for the Chocolate Caramel. Lighting was soft, directional, and designed to enhance texture and natural shine without creating glare on the jars.

The final collection delivered a bold, cohesive set of commercial food photography assets, crafted to help Joe & Seph’s sauces stand in stores and online.
