Case Study: DanDan Restaurant

Brief.
DanDan are an authentic Sichuan Chinese restaurant in London, known for its handmade noodles, bold spice profiles, and traditional dishes like Dan Dan noodles, dry pots, and spicy pork wontons.
They reached out to me as a food photographer to build a complete library of menu food photography assets for Deliveroo, online ordering platforms, and also as digital marketing assets.
The aim was to showcase the depth of their menu with imagery that reflects the quality, tradition, and bold flavour that define DanDan’s kitchen.
Approach.
Following a quick call with the team , I developed a two-day food photography package that covered over 120 dishes, plus a couple of banner setups showcasing their most popular dishes.
As a leading food photographer for Deliveroo, we shot on-site over two days, using studio lighting to consistently highlight oil gloss, flashes of green, deep reds, and the handmade quality of noodles and dumplings. Styling remained true to their restaurant plating, with minimal changes being made, letting the food speak for itself.
The result was a rich, high-impact image set that captured the full range of DanDan’s offering, giving them versatile, platform-ready visuals that elevated their digital menu and stayed true to their culinary roots.
