Case Study: ChaBan
Brief.
Cha Ban is a Korean kitchen operating on Deliveroo, offering a menu built around set meals and banchan-style dishes.
They brought me in to produce a focused set of menu images designed specifically for delivery platforms, where clarity, consistency, and immediate recognition directly influence conversion.
The outcome required was simple: imagery that improves menu legibility and supports confident purchasing decisions. The photography needed to read instantly on small screens, hold up under platform compression, and present complex dishes clearly. With multiple components appearing in a single dish, the brief centred on reducing visual noise while maintaining consistency across the menu, ensuring portion, variety, and value were immediately understood at thumbnail size.
Approach.
I planned the food photography session and timings with a clear focus on efficiency and quality control.
A controlled lighting and framing setup was established early and held throughout the session, ensuring consistency across all menu categories. Fifteen core menu items were photographed in two formats: branded lunchbox containers for platform familiarity, and plated set-meal compositions to clearly show variety and value.
Dishes were delivered to camera at measured intervals, allowing food quality, composition, and pace to remain consistent while keeping the kitchen moving. A final hero image was produced to anchor the Deliveroo storefront and provide a clear visual entry point to the menu.
The resulting image set functions as a repeatable system rather than individual hero shots, giving Cha Ban a clear, consistent delivery menu that supports confident purchasing decisions and reduces friction as the menu scales.
