Case Study: Mr Falafel
Brief.
Mr Falafel are a family-owned restaurant located at the entrance of the New Shepherd's Market. Trading for 25-years, they first started out by selling one type of wrap, and now having moved to a larger unit, have a strong local reputation for great vegan falafel wraps, and bringing authentic Pastastinian flavours to the people of London.
Keeping true to their roots and maintaining a core menu of popular falafel wraps, they’ve expanded their menu with side dishes, and dips over the years, and frequently have a queue running outside of the door during the day.
The team got in touch with me as they wanted to have menu food photography to boost their sales on Deliveroo.
It was important to them that the food photography not only looked great, but it also needed to visually represent their heritage.
Approach.
After a quick call with the team to learn about their restaurant, I put together a food photography package for a 1/2 day session that covered capturing 25 menu items, a hero banner image showing a selection of their best-selling items for Deliveroo, in addition to a couple of creative lifestyle scenes for use on their website.
I hand-picked a selection of vinyl backgrounds from my collection that best matched their brand, and heritage. I also suggested a small collection of props for the client to source for the menu items to be placed on.
At the menu food photography session, I offered food photography styling tips to get the very best out of their menu items, and we smoothly worked through their items - finishing on a hero banner image and creative lifestyle scenes that showcased the hero of the show… the falafel!
The edited food photography content was delivered within 72-hours and the team were really pleased with the results, and left me 5-star review - “I had the pleasure of working with Hikaru, and I can’t recommend him highly enough! His photography skills are absolutely top-notch, capturing every detail with precision and a creative touch.”
