As well as being a professional food photographer, I offer art direction services for our food photography sessions. Art Direction is a powerful tool that ties together a production - to effectively tell your brand story.
As a food photographer, an equally large part of capturing delicious food photography is in the planning of your session. Not only are we looking to capture the food that has been loving my styled, but also - create an on-brand visual narrative that embodies your brand's unique story. Using my experience and passion for art direction, I produce sets that align and connect you to your audience.
I’ve streamlined my process to ensure a smooth journey from our initial discovery call to the final delivery of your food photography. For smaller productions, I prep, source and dress our sets, and on larger projects - I work alongside one of my experienced and trusted art directors to brief them in, then bridge our brief, with the food stylist and client - making sure the essence of your brand will be felt in your food photography.
This starts by working together at the briefing phase to unpack your core brand messaging, forming the foundation of our creative diretion. With a visually inspired approach, I put together a brief treatment aalign with your audience's aspirations, making these insights core to our creative decision-making.
This production toolkit contains brand colours, and palettes, and thematic elements at the topline. It also breaks down our food photography shot formats, contains a shot list, with ratios and recipes assigned to products, mood boards to keep us visually on track, and slides for backgrounds, and art direction. Our art direction boards display purchased and hired food photography props from the prop rental house, along with any specific items that the client has supplied to be included in the scenes.
Using this, I produce vibrant and eye-catching sets, that complement your product and food stylist food styling - all to authentically tell your brand story to your audience.
