Case Study: Fork Lewes

Brief.

I was approached by the owner and co-founder of soon to be opened restaurant, Fork.

Based in the centre of the historic county town of Lewes, East Sussex - the local area has a vibrant creative scene and many great food producers in the surrounding countryside. With surprisingly short-few amazing places to dine in the area - most of which being chains, the restaurant team saw a gap in the market that needed filling.

Taking the reigns in the kitchen is Sussex-born and raised, Chef Adam Paice. With an adoration for the amazing local food & drink and his raw ambition - he has quickly worked his way through the ranks in kitchens across the south to now taking the helm at Fork Lewes.

I was approached to capture restaurant photography on a seasonal retainer basis for press and social as well as to give guidance on the start-up.

Approach.

I produced a restaurant photography concept that matched the ethos of the menu at Fork - a natural, and seasonal approach to modern British cooking.

A shot list was produced to create a good scope of use on their website, across social, directories, and for press usage.

Shooting on-location with their beautiful interior that was designed by Reafe Studio - we worked to capture a selection of studio-lit food heroes at the tableside; storytelling content of Adam cooking in the kitchen, and environmental portraits of the team to give context to the passionate team for diners.

I additionally pitched and captured a brief to show the narrative connection between the team at Fork, and their local independent suppliers; spending a day on-location at organic farms, with livestock, at grocers and fish suppliers - contextually capturing them in their natural environment.

The content was immediately turned around for use on their newly designed Fork Lewes website, and for their digital outreach to the local community.

With more restaurant photography shoots planned in 2023 - I’m looking forward to picking up where I left off with team Fork and producing more great content.
