Case Study: Elia Greek Street Food

Brief.

Any of my food photography clients who have spent at least 5 minutes shooting with me, could tell you that I’m a lover of the Greek Isles, and all things Greek food.

Elia Greek Street Food was founded in 2018 and is run by two best friends - Vasilis and Dimitris, who originally come from the mainland city of Larissa. Wanting to share their passion for Greek food, they specialise in the ever-popular gyros and Greek street food, with a range of over 35 different menu options.

Now set across five landmark locations, including two in Camden, and one in Shoreditch the business is purely takeout - via ordering at the hatch, or via popular ordering apps like Deliveroo and UberEats.

Wanting a restaurant photographer to capture their menu for use on the ordering apps, the founders reached out to me.

Off the back of a discovery call - I produced a shoot brief that contained mood board inspiration and a shot list for our shoot.

Approach.

Shooting on-location at their Camden location, on Italian Alley over a 1/2 day booking - I set up a mobile restaurant photography studio on a tabletop.

Working from my brief, backgrounds were brought in to match the four core colours of the brand, using each colour intermittently between food categories to make the ordering menus more visually appealing when scrolling.

To produce the look and give the client the best possible output for their restaurant photography - I captured each of the 35 items as a hero. I also captured an additional closeup of a key element of each dish - producing graphic food photography of the gyros and dishes, for additional use across social media.

The founders were very happy with the restaurant photography of their menu, and it was great to see it in use across their ordering apps and touchpoints.
